i funnily don't need to make a resolution this year, since i've been actively working on self-improvement. nevertheless, i'll put out 2024 plans for the sake of it:1) Blender renders. I'm going to learn this software and have a decent animation made by the end of the year. Bonus points if I animate my own character.2) Drawing. Working with physical pencil, I'd like to be more than able to draw a character in a dynamic pose. Bonus points if I can make a comic page.3) Writing. I already outlined my short story and I am going to draft it.4) Lifting. Already doing this, reached 200 in squats before the year ended. Let's shoot for 280, maybe 300 in squats alone.5) Reading. I need to mend my relationship with books and dive in deep again. Specifically history and technology.that's not nearly all i have planned, but that'll suffice. going big this year, bros!

@burner soldering's good, i haven't done it in a while but i enjoyed harvesting components from trash circuits years ago.start doing pushups first thing, it's simple and is great before bed. i did that and running up until going to the gym, that set me up for endurance and baseline strength.what're you using for software dev? i haven't even begun to program yet.

go to a martial arts gym. I recommend BJJ but it’s also been commercialized a lot. at any rate, It’ll help you with #2 and #5, and you can do #9 there but you don’t have tounlikely you’ll get #12 from there but all those things you’ll gain from martial arts will help substantially in the pursuit of wifeyou’ve got this ❤️

thanks man, much appreciated. I don't think I can commit to a martial art right now schedule wise. I think I should just buy weights or something, I don't have a lot of space. I think my main barrier to obtaining a wife is social skills, my appearance is fine, getting in shape is mostly so I don't feel like shit all the time.

I’ve done (structured) martial arts since I was 7, I currently practice and coach BJJ and Muay Thai, highly recommend. My coach is nowhere near as watered down as some I know but most places that do MMA are doing it to win, not for fitness so you should be alrightbasically go try it out, you’ll look like a retard your first couple of weeks / months but eventually a switch will flip and you’ll start to look okay

I'm sure once I actually do that things will improve.

It's probably insufferable to the people around me if they realize it but it's given me insight that's helped me understand why some people are like they are and how to treat some of them with compassion when they would otherwise be punished or ridiculed.

The rules for most MMA stuff place restrictions on striking (no one will try to tackle you, if they are expecting an elbow to the base of the neck, saw that once in a match, the Muay Thai guy got tired of the other guy taking it to the ground at the start of every round, his opponent dropped like a sack of rocks. It really opened my eyes.). Only way BJJ does so well. For just exercise? I'm not sure, just fighting only builds muscles good for fighting. If you want to increase your strength or stamina, you still have to do basic exercises, whether or not you practice a martial art.

in proper fighting if you’re going for a takedown youre going to be pulling them down and going for the legs as they react and stand up or you’re going to have just finished pummeling at their face or something similar, if you just go straight for the legs there’s a solid chance you’ll get flattened if your opponent knows what he’s doing
