       Mass Surveillance -> Mass Spying. Yikes. (I had never distinguished these)"The Internet Enabled Mass Surveillance. A.I. Will Enable Mass Spying.Spying has always been limited by the need for human labor. A.I. is going to change that."Surveillance reports what you do, Spying what you say. Tech made mass surveillance cost effective. AI summarization makes mass spying possible. Gov's and Corp'es will dive in according toexpert Bruce Schneierhttps://slate.com/technology/2023/12/ai-mass-spying-internet-surveillance.html

       @brewsterkahle Here, have an anti-adblocker blocker snippet of CSS. I use Cascadea, but there's also UserStyles:/* Slate */ .tp-modal { display: none !important; } .tp-modal-open { overflow: auto !important; }

       @brewsterkahle The level of misinformation and distrust AI generates is unfathomable. The pollution of actual knowledge is truly disturbing too.At this point I think we need a new Boston Tea party. Ripping up the Bork doctrine would at least be a start, but desperately we need to democratize archive and search, web hosting and e-commerce support. Co-ops, town and cities should support their own internet and hosting, with federated systems. Big tech is now Big Enclosure.

       @brewsterkahle I am not sure this is much of a surprise considering what they have been doing in China. It's just whether western governments stop pretending they are not already look at it

       @brewsterkahle Mass surveillance doesn’t require AI. The Stasi were pretty successful.
