@PowerOfSin Fascinating. I'd love to see a video of this program in action. I'm mostly curious about how it handles tag editing. And I'm guessing the "media" tab is a list of the items on your website with the folders being the sections?I've made programs like this before for my own website, but I'm always curious about new ideas and approaches that might improve them.Mastodon post / RSS Feed editor:https://aethy.com/@humbird0/109785408123250010My website's editor:https://aethy.com/@humbird0/110543201715810624My old website's editor:https://aethy.com/@humbird0/110256727551869650

@PowerOfSin Oh wait, that was part of a private conversation. But it was just a link to the picture attached to the post.

@PowerOfSin Interesting. So it's actually pretty simple.Clicking a keyword and then moving the mouse all the way down to click "add" seems like it could get cumbersome if you were adding a lot of tags. I suppose my personal preference would be to double-click a keyword to add it.The tag categories kind of represent levels specific-ness, but I suspect that's mostly just for organizing them more than anything. And it looks like you have a way to manually select related posts. In my mind I'd be tempted to try to automate it based on tags, but if you have something like a comic series or a bunch of ongoing stories it probably would make sense to be exact.

@PowerOfSin On a related note I recently noticed an email I received many months ago from Aethy asking me to be more specific about the "NSFW" content-warnings I had on some of my posts, saying that they should be more specific to describe why each post is NSFW. I happen to agree. I manually went back and added more details to all of my posts, but the whole thing has gotten me brainstorming about ways to try to automate adding a short but detailed description to the CW.I'll probably dive into this puzzle in a few days, so you might see me posting about my experiments later on.Going back and adding all the details manually has already helped me figure out what descriptions I tend to need. My current hunch is that it should theoretically be possible for a program to accurately guess what the description should be based on the keywords. I might need to add a few new keywords and a real-time preview of the description to ensure the keywords I've added are enough to adequately describe the post. The goal is to generate the description automatically without requiring extra work from me. I already add keywords. It's just a matter of adding the right keywords... I think.

@PowerOfSin Oh I see, so instead of adding parent tags to each item, you handle the associations at the search level. The end result is theoretically the same for both of us: Just add the most specific tags and let the programming handle the rest.

@PowerOfSin A trick I used in my previous website was allowing people to save a "default search" which acted as a filter pre-applied to normal browsing and all future searches. It's not in my current website because I switched to a fully static website. But maybe I could figure something out using javascript and CSS to hide unwanted items.

@PowerOfSin I guess you could just store a separate list of which tags are sensitive and the program could compare an item's current tags against it. Or a more performant way is to only do the check at the moment a tag is added and check whether the new tags is in the "naughty list"The way I myself currently handle it is with keyword replacement. Certain keywords correspond with multiple other keywords, which are not limited to just parent categories. So "renamon" gets replaced by "Renamon" "Digimon" "Furry" ... But "straightshota" becomes "StraightShota" "AgeDifference" "AgeGap" "NSFW" ... and then I only look for the NSFW tag afterwards to decide whether the post is sensitive.

@PowerOfSin I think my preference for double-clicking tags comes from managing my picture collection using Picasa 2.7 for over a decade. I still haven't found anything that can do it better.

@PowerOfSin Something I realized while been brainstorming for my Mastodon CW description writer is that I'll need more specific or extreme descriptions to replace milder ones. So "suggestive content" gets replaced by "lesbian sex" for example. And to prevent displaying both descriptions since space is limited. I think this could probably be handled by prioritizing the more-specific description.I'm not sure, but maybe it'll just start with a general "sexual female nudity" description for my general NSFW tag. And anything more specific would simply replace that. This might be elegantly adequate. But I'll need to think about this some more.

@PowerOfSin Yeah, putting "dog fucking girl" in the content warning might be too shocking for some people, who might prefer a simple "sexual content" label. On the other hand, for people who are looking for sexy stuff they might prefer knowing the fetish at least. I myself prefer to know.I suppose if somebody is squeamish about explicit descriptions, they would probably just block hashtags like "porn" or "hentai" so they theoretically have the ability to filter out the post itself and not even see the descriptions. Tags are technically human-readable labels but they're mostly for computer search and filtering in my opinion. Tags tend to be too verbose for humans to read quickly as warning labels, so the content warning is a brief summary for human eyes.

@PowerOfSin Picasa has auto-complete so I only need to type the first few letters of a tag. That mostly reduces the risk is typos... but doesn't quite prevent it completely.

@PowerOfSin I think your approach makes sense. I don't tend to invent new tags very often. So having a separate list and spelling auto-correct seems ideal.
