I don't believe in making #NewYearsResolutions about things that are beyond my control. So it was with some trepidation that I made the particular resolution I made in December 2020.I wasn't 100% sure it was ACTUALLY something I could control (because I live in a society and I can't control others' behaviour). But BECAUSE I don't believe in making resolutions you can't control, in making the resolution, I was taking a leap of faith that I DID have enough control for success. It panned out. /1

In December 2021 I made the same resolution again. Things seemed even dicier at that point than in December 2020, but at the same time, I also knew I had better resources to help me bring things more under my control. So I took the same leap of faith. And as of today, I can officially say that it panned out again. /2 #NewYearsResolutions

So here I sit, making the same resolution in December 2022, in a situation even dicier than one year ago. But it occurs to me that the leap of faith part matters all the more in a world where everyone keeps telling us we have no control at all. It helps me commit to continuing to use all the resources available to me to steer the aspects that genuinely are under my control. So even if it doesn't pan out this time, itβs still a resolution worth making. /3fin#NewYearsResolutions #DontGetCOVID

Re-upping the above (πβ) resolution for 2024, in a situation EVEN dicier than one year ago, which 2023-me honestly couldn't have easily imagined.Through a combination of knowledge, effort, tenacity, and privilege, I was successful in keeping it in 2023--but even if I hadn't been, I'd still make it again for next year. Based on the research that's come out this year, it's VERY clear it's the best resolution I can make, for both my own future and my partner's.#NewYearsResolutions #DontGetCOVID
