@grammargirl Hi Mignon! I wonder if you’ve noticed an odd spelling trend online - spaces being omitted between words, but consistently. We’ve seen “alot” and “abit”….a lot. But also “infact” and just today, “incase.” Where do you think this comes from, and why is it becoming more common?

@ajkandy Hi! I actually haven't noticed people omitting spaces between words online. I'll keep an extra eye out for it now.I'm not sure why it happens. I was tempted to say it's similar to people using all lowercase letters online, but with "alot," I think people really don't know that it's two words, so it could be that people think "incase" and "infact" are spelled as one word.

@grammargirl Definitely see it on spaces with a mix of younger internet users (tumblr, reddit); i'm no longer on twitter but used to see it there as well.
