Survived another birthday. Whew! A brunch of hero sandwiches and a dinner of gnocchi pasta in a parmesan cream sauce. My mom helped with the cake (chocolate - my chocolate cakes never turn out well), but I did the peanut butter icing. The topper (a paper maché octopus) was dressed up as the Greatest American Hero.Now I'm going to drink bourbon and collapse into a corner.

@BoredStupid The birthday movie I had picked out a month ago and got ready (edited out some of the violence and language and such) I only realized a few nights ago was still too much for the 6 year olds to watch. So I picked "Galaxy Quest" as a substitute, but in screening it I forgot how bosom-y Sigourney Weaver gets in the last part of the movie! Also, too much for the youngin's. So I switched to "Shanghai Noon" and edited it last night until about 3 a.m. I'm definitely wiped out.

@mrman I reckon it's one of the only things I do that actually matters, so I'm giving it my best. It's nice to have something where I can give it my all and not feel like I'm wasting my time or talent (unlike my job).@BoredStupid

@DaddyO @mrman @BoredStupid Worth it. I have a grown human resource who is confident in herself and knows she was loved and parented with thoughtfulness. You only have 18 years and they fly by. The greatest compliment I get now is being asked for advice.

@aj Many thanks, although it's my fault for not being clear in my post - it was Honorable Daughter #2's birthday yesterday. With Honorable Son #2's birthday the day before, and Christmas a few days before that, it's like I run a celebration gauntlet at the end of every year.
