#askfedi Hi #Fedi does someone have suggestions for the best #selfhosted #photomanagement software that can be synchronized with my #nextcloud photos?#foss The candidates so far are #lychee and #photoview #photoprism and #piwigo ... it would be ideal if it has an android appoh, and I'm using #yunohost so I'd like to use one that is in their catalogue.

@lps yea as long as they have access to the same underlying directories. You go into the settings and create an external read only library. This syncs it, but you'll have to delete photos from nextcloud I think. I could be a little wrong how it all works tho.

@lps @chriscochrun One way you can use another photo management app along with Nextcloud is to setup an external drive in Nextcloud. Then assign the user of the additional app to the Nextcloud user group. I did that with Jellyfin. Tell me if you want more details.

@lps I use #photoprism for a while now, it’s ability to optionally organise and #darktable integration were what won me over. Sync for mobile works well with #PhotoSync , a third party app. There’s no mobile app which I consider a downside, it does have a PWA that works well except for integration to share photos with other apps on your phone - it should be coming in the next version

@cpacaudThanks for the idea. I'm in a similar situation where I would like a simple setup for my family.Using "instant upload" via the #Nextcloud app, but ultimately browse/view using a secondary application on the same server. Simple is good:)A few of these options without mobile apps is a bit unfortunate since so many people spend less and less time on desktop/laptops for these kinds of things.@alpar_torok

@lps Have you seen Memories app? It's a Nextcloud app to replace Photo app, but they have a beta mobile app. Might be what you need.
