       A number of explosions occured in the center of the Russian city of Belgorod today.Immediately this has been presented by Russian social media accounts as a Ukrainian attack on civilians. But from the videos I have reviewed, I do not believe this to be true. The explosions are few and small, and there are no pictures of shockwave damage to windows, or buildings collapsing.If Ukraine really wanted to level the Belgorod city center they could, and this looks nothing like it.

       @randahl it is an Ukrainian attack on civilians.First one is a picture of damaged window — of my best friend’s home. The second photo was taken by my brother’s wife. On the third one you can see a building where my mother was at the moment.

       @ohray what in these pictures prove to you, that this is a deliberate bombing of civilians, and that the weapons used came from Ukraine?I am not saying that is impossible. All I am saying is, it will be helpful to know more, before we jump to conclusions.

       @randahl both of these points aren’t controversial, there is no single reason to doubt that it is deliberate and that it is carried by Ukrainian army.That is revenge for bombings of Ukrainian cities two days earlier. They make it clear, mocking Russian MOD by using exactly the same words they used to justify their attacks on civilians.“They are bombing themselves” — it’s Putin’s rhetoric from the beginning of the war, it is just as absurd and outrageous the other way around.

       @ohray It might have been a deliberate attack on Russian airport just north of Belgorod. Russian MoD itself confirmed it was its air defense that downed the missiles whose debris fell on the town center. Indiscriminate attack on Belgorod town center would be indeed a war crime, but targeted attack on a military airport wouldn’t.With Russia’s attack day before it was a different case because large part of the weapons used against towns (like S-300) were low precision and thus indiscriminate.@randahl
