Mastodon #psa: there's a post going around about #mozilla #firefox and the salary of the Mozilla Corporation CEO. This post is based on a blog post written by an openly transphobic fascist, Brian Lunduke, who has a beef with Mozilla for them treating trans employees like human beings. It doesn't matter how true the material is; we must not take decisions based on information collated with such motives. This is a moderation issue and it should be taken down but it's already been seen a lot.

I really really don't want to link to receipts because they are vile and he doesn't deserve your energy. He has a second much more vile website on a different subdomain where you can find plenty of mask off fascism.

@leftpaddotpy Why should we believe any such claim without receipts when everyone and their grandma's cat is being called a transphobic fascist nowadays?I support the human rights of trans people and I get called a transphobic fascist too, simply for disagreeing with the unscientific worldviews of trans activists. Similar accusations are being leveled at life-long human rights activists; particularly feminists and gay rights activists. A lot of such accusations are completely arbitrary and nonsensical and should be summarily discarded if no evidence is provided.I'm now trying to find out what his political stances are, and can't find much on the web even after looking. Moreover, why should it matter what his motives for criticizing Mozilla are, so long as the critique itself is reasonable. Here's the post about the Mozilla CEO's salary, for those who want to read it:https://lunduke.locals.com/post/5053290/mozilla-2023-annual-report-ceo-pay-skyrockets-while-firefox-marketshare-nosedives

@feld @leftpaddotpy I could buy ten homes a year in the world's most expensive city for that money. It is a ton of money. Are there CEOs that earn more? For sure. Do they also receive raises while firing people and losing market share? That happens too. Does that justify it? No.

@clacke > ten homes in a year in the world's most expensive cityNot prime real estate. If you set your standards low enough I bet they could buy 100 "homes" in a year with that salary! So yeah, maybe 10 is possible in neighborhoods far away from the city center. But your "most expensive city" most not be very expensive if you can buy a nice condo that can house a family (3bdrm minimum) in a good location for less than ~$2MMiami: 3 bedrooms, minimum 2000sqft, max 4000sqft, near downtown and you're looking at ~$1.25M to $6M

@mansr @leftpaddotpy $7M/yr and she isn't even qualified to lease Taylor Swift's private jet. Think about it.

@feld @valhalla @clacke The median in 33042 says that 7m nothing. I think we need to reevaluate what prices are and stop acting like this is still the 90’s when a blank check of a million was a lot.

@SlicerDicer @clacke @valhalla people are so divorced from the reality of how much money is in this world because of how badly the average person is taken advantage of by the system.$7M/yr and you can't even get a table bumping elbows with actually rich people

@feld @clacke @valhalla >> At one time I had 54 in horsepower behind me 2013 and I was a nobody. To be clear, it is honestly 1 single day you take to gain this. In one single day you lose it. Just as I did. That’s the harsh reality too. You ever make that much? You best bust your fucking ass and learn and even then? Everything works against you to tear your ass down. It’s bloop gone.

@leftpaddotpy "It doesn't matter how true the material is"I don't get it. If he's right, then he is right? He's still a terrible person regardless, it doesn't mean that he is mentally incapable of being correct (even a broken clock is right twice a day). If you don't want to give him ad revenue, just republish it somewhere else. I don't actually agree with the post, the compensation is a bit high, but if you achieved the goals of Mozilla then that is a valid reason for having compensation increased.I don't think Bryan Lunduke, considering his programming "abilities", manufacturing of bullshit about his own life, and incredibly unpopular substack, is capable of having the intelligent foresight to "control conversations". I think you overestimate the intelligence and cunning of these people. They are really fucking stupid, I doubt that any other motive was involved here, and again he is still a terrible person. If he wanted to whine about Mozilla being pro-trans he could have done that.
