@stesnac What’s this Snac software? I’ve never heard of it.

@stesnac I am watching your snac with avid interest. It looks like snac stores data in files, rather than a database. Which can be done well, but I've seen it done badly so frequently that I'm hesitant. The ability to run my fedi on my main web site, with light software, is solidly intriguing, though.

@mwl@io.mwl.io The snac approach seems correct to me. It uses .json files for everything (and some .idx files for speed), with many hard links. It sets specific directory statuses and then, user by user, creates hard links to divide and select, avoiding storing the same data multiple times. The outgoing queue (with various retries, etc.) is also a directory - containing JSON files that also include information about how many retries have been done, etc.It seems like a valid approach, but clearly, only through thorough testing will we be able to fully understand the situation. If you want to conduct some tests, I can give you an account on this server, although I am still running some experiments (so there may be some instability).

@mwl@io.mwl.io @mwl@io.mwl.io also, the dev is present and kind, and is following my experiments. So it's a big plus.

@stesnac Is there anyway I could get an account on your instance to test this new Snac software?
