@EU_Commission I'm all for standardizing it but I have seen too many USB standards to believe that it will stop at 'C'. Plus there is now that cable hell as well.When you work in IT for a while you'll start to become suspicious of everything containing the words 'universal' and 'simple'.

@EU_Commission unfortunately it doesnt mean one charger to fit them all. As many will already know, OS are VERY fussy about chargers, this is not only about the plug to connect them. I have several 'fast' chargers, for 2 dif android USB-C phones. They dont work interoperably, if at all.

@EU_Commission Airplanes and Busses still have USB-A connectors. An adapter is cheap and tiny, but it’s also easy to forget that you need that dedicated adapter every time you travel.I hope that they will eventually align too.

@EU_Commission at the rate usb-c connectors degrade and loosen, this is not going to help with reducing e-waste.Remember those round barrel connectors in Nokia phones? That shit lasted forever. Separating data and charge connectors would have been a better idea.

@ottocrat this is something we in the UK will benefit from without noticing that the reason apple just went to USB -C on phones was EU pressure, or that all new cars have already embraced it too. Two downsides- cable quality. The UK will probably permit budget cables from the Shenzen Dangerous Company via Amazon- USB-C power levels. Even raspberry Pi 5s benefit from an over spec 27W PSU; laptops more so. It’s a moving target

@EU_Commission I’m optimistic but USB C Isn’t made equal.Companies like Apple have Apple MFI, a “certification program". Basically DRM on cables. The cable will only work on Apple devices when it has been “certified”.

@EU_Commission I like USB-C, but I have one small reservation... I've found that cheap USB-C plugs can come out of their sockets too easily. If quality standards are maintained then I'm all for it, but I doubt these plugs will ever be as secure in their sockets as USB-A is - even the well-made ones.

@EU_Commission I have 10 USB-C cables at home whose are not interchangeable at all. Some don’t charge fast, some don’t work for data, some are very slow… And the worst is there is visual sign to understand the difference. “10 charger to rule some of all!”

@EU_Commission now if only they would make it a requirement for all "low power" devices. For example I have a broadband router here which is very low power and could easily be powered by my USB-C pd hub but no it has some stupid power brick instead.

@EU_Commission For me, there is zero effect on "less waste". Every time I buy a new device I buy new cables because the quality is so bad, they get broken after a few weeks or months
