Has ChatGPT recently had COVID-19? Lately, it seems to be affected by brain fog. #COVID19 #BrainFog #ChatGPT #AI

@stefano ๐Ÿ˜‚in my experience thereโ€™s a large difference between 3.5 free and paid 4.0. And it seemed to me that the free version got more limited during periods of high demand.

@ianthetechie Unfortunately, I've noticed it with the paid 4.0.Sometimes I asked it to create some scripts and it never failed (except for some small things, that I've been fixing manually). Now, it replies "your script should be structured like this" and you have to insist. Still, the code will be far worse than in the past and, often, incomplete. Even if it's just a small sh script.

@stefano yeah it does tend to hit local maxima and get stuck with certain tasks. Especially if you ask it something BSD related and it assumes that Bash on Linux is literally the only thing that exists ๐Ÿ˜…

@ianthetechie I asked to convert an OpenBSD rc script to FreeBSD, and it did it. Then, I asked to convert to NetBSD. "Sure, here's the script for NetBSD". Then, it produced a systemd service file...

@stefano yeah ๐Ÿ˜… thatโ€™s exactly the sort of thing I observe periodically. Sometimes starting over from the last successful step in a new chat session clears the fog, but not always.

@stefano for helping with scripts and code in general I prefer https://phind.com Not least because it lists all the references (usually stackoverflow & friends) for further investigations.@ianthetechie
