@Mummabear prophecy is not the same as a prediction. If God has given you some kind of knowledge, that is prophecy. I used to go to an evangelical church and saw prophecy* all the time. It was usually interpersonal stuff. Sometimes someone would get up and say something to the whole church. But the prophets of the bible were given a word for the nation. There are plenty of preachers on TV doing that every day.*if you accept it as real at all.

@Mummabear Good morning. There are prophesies given on subjects great and small in pentecostal communities regularly. There are people that fancy themselves prophets, however, that make silly utterances that mean nothing and are by no means prophecy. They are idiots. I know of a few.

@Mummabear prophecy is a gift of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit really only manifests through the pure in heart. Although God spoke through Balaam's donkey, and God can do what ever He pleases, His choice for those He works through are the pure in heart. I heard a little girl utter a prophecy while praying one night. She didn't realize that what she said was prophetic but is was dynamite. I've heard a pile of clowns who were very likely not pure in heart.

@Mummabear Youtube has a pile of videos of famous idiots prophesying about Trump's return to power, justice, judgement, blah, blah, blah. Prophecy has gotten a bad name because of a bunch of clowns.

@Mummabear the dictionary would probably disagree with me, but yes definately. The whole idea of prophecy is that it is not a guess. It's information (usually about it the future, but not always) of divine origin. It comes directly from God and has 100% chance of being true. At least that is the idea.
