They were forming "RADICAL COMMUNIST LABOR UNIONS" and moving west from the DISEASED TENEMENTS on the eastern seaboard to work as 'Cowboys" in the fresh air of the west (for better or worse). The Carpetbaggers worked to get the slaves north later.

       @aljazeera It is estimated that on any given day in the USA there are about 400 THOUSAND people living in conditions of slavery. Maybe Nicky Whatshername owns slaves.
