       New plan:  Reopen the debtors' prisons.  The "kids" not paying their student loans are also likely not paying their credit card debit.  Give them something to fear and maybe they'll get off their lazy.... second though no.        @neanderthalsnavel no one held that gun to our (I am a student loan holder currently repaying my debt) saying take this loan or die.   I wanted to get out of retail; found the cheapest school that I could afford loan debt for, and understood I'd have to repay it (my loans total less than the cost of a BMW 3series.)   It's not my fault some of these kids take out loans to get Gender Studies degrees from Ivy League schools.

       @ThatDoug i'm all for writing 100% payments off on tax returns. That's fair. The loan theoretically helped the graduate earn that money that the govt is confiscating.
