       @electronwarier those are all prion diseases. Beri-beri too in cannibals. Prions are some down right sneaky 'things'. Basically a prion plays tag with a mirror image protein, changing it into a prion itself. They are not alive at all. So far it's very unlikely that prions can jump species but highly plausible. Unlikely because there's so few research into it. Isomers are so important or detrimental to human physiology.
