@GluedToTheScreen It was handy to be able to send around little blarts of text back then.Much faster than photocopying and mailing, and you could work with it better than faxes.People also had ridiculous portable faxes that used acoustic coupler modems as well.

Long before universal power cables, etc, became an issue... @amerika ... interfaces were an issue with each advance in tech. An entire cottage industry cropped up of exotic devices to connect serial this to scsi that or whatever.As a class, we used to call them GENDER BENDERS.Probably wouldn't fly these days, huh?

@GluedToTheScreen @amerika got a whole box of those adapters in my storage space somewhere. I should probably put them up on ebay some day for hobbyists that fix up old tech.

@ins0mniak @GluedToTheScreen @amerika somebody out there probably wants those discman headphones so bad, but can't find them anywhere. Seen people here in fedi looking for parts for their old tech restoration projects, mostly computer parts and game console stuff. If I find that box of stuff, I'll definitely put it all up in ebay for reasonable prices and send somebody over the moon with happiness. My kids will find it in storage after i die and probably send my tech hoard to the landfill if I don't sell that stuff off lol
