@IdahoLark We say the same thing when the owls show up for the buffet. Usually boreal, on occasion great greys.

@IdahoLark Owls like to show up and "just look" at the rabbit when he's outside. Luckily the crows and jays look out for him, it's quite a ruckus. (It's well camouflaged)

@AlaskaWx You just reminded me of the time we had not one, but two white voles show up under our feeder. I live trapped them in minutes and sent them to live out their days in the warm house of the UAF mammal curator. They hold a place of honor in a museum drawer now.

@IdahoLark Nearly all the voles we see are northern red-backeds, though I'm pretty sure we've seen a long-tailed vole once or twice.

@peachfront I believe the researchers determined they were albino red-backed voles, so a genetic mutation.

@IdahoLark my mom gets a falcon at her bird feeder regularly. She figures she's still feeding birds!

@Onceoday Same! Although a few years ago the hawk was coming by every 30 minutes so we took down the feeders for a week or so.

@IdahoLark Mom says she's never actually seen it catch one of the sparrows. They have plenty of cover, and when they all scatter at once it's just too confusing.
