@caekislove Counting down the days until /a/ can toss in a Jap cartoon, press a button, and have an AI translate the text, generate embeddings of each voice actor, map them to equivalent English-language voices, and seamlessly dub the whole thing without a single troon involved in any step of the process. We've already got voice replication (see vid related), mapping voices to new languages is on the way, and translation is already solved. In real life he would base his emphasis on the emotional heights of the speech or feedback from the crowd, which would be *really* hard to teach an AI to do without a lot more information, but someone with enough sound engineering talent could probably make it happen.

I know dubs and I've seen wonderful ones and really bad onesIdeally, the dub voice actors should have a voice that's close enough to the original. It's very possible with French - English. For example, the French VA for Eddie Murphy is very good, they need to be good to such a level that if you compare scenes, you should NOT have the feeling that you just crossed a fucking dimension The problem with anime specifically is that anime dubbing, unless you're the 1% in the industry, you're basically a loser in your field that clearly didn't make it. The vast majority of them aren't amazingly skilled (compared to Japan who has like 10+ specific schools JUST for this) and they mostly can't replicate a lot of the anime voices, especially of the womenThere's also the fact that their dub directors are absolute garbage, it's also all rushed and done on the extreme cheap

AI probably wouldn't be best for designing a character, but it could create any number of textures (theoretically). For voice acting, instead of a main character with important lines I would probably use it for the dozens of NPCs that could appear in a game rather than do what Skyrim did and have Jim Cummings voice them all.

Live voice conversation with AI is something actively being worked on - tricky, because you can't just feed in the lines token by token and expect good intonation, since the voice model needs to know what the text model is 'thinking' at the time, but as (or if) compute becomes cheap enough, multimodal output allows a clean solution, given the training data that's already in use.Basically, you could walk up to any NPC and have a real conversation. Sadly, the models for this are expensive enough to build and use that we're a ways off from anything that isn't a big company using them, and I don't seen any big companies that'd use them well, but something truly impressive will come to pass once the chains are off.

Last time I was able to hear Joshua Graham in-game was around 2013. :pepe_eyeballs: Tony Jay also voices the main villain of Planescape: Torment. For a game that's pure text, he doesn't have a ton of voice-acted lines, though. :pepesad: Also was surprised to learn the voice for The Master was the same guy that voiced Winnie the Pooh. :pooh:

For instance latino Homer Simpson is quite a popular voice, Invader Zim had better voice acting in spanish than in english and you can tell that Goku from dbz has the same voice as Jim Carrey in some movies.I belive american cartoon producers in general don't respect animation to begin with and when they try to do it high quality they just hire pedowood actors for voice acting.Like all goyslop they care about pumping as much as they can rather than doing their best with the goyslop they are given.
