This article says Guyana is “tiny but rich” what Guyana are they talking about? That country is third world afaict. Oil? For whom?

@the0ther They found oil recently. Government owns it all due to social structures there. Government is corrupt (whodathunkit) and a vassal of US foreign policy. The people won’t see a dime (unless they sneak in a violent communist overthrow without state department preventing it). It will remain the only English speaking third world country for the foreseeable future.

@the0ther (Been there. We support a church planting missions organization whose leader has contacts inside the government there. Most of what is above comes from him when he visited a few weeks ago.)

@DanielStone yeah my gf is from there so I keep an eye on the news from Guyana, but there’s almost never any news. Sleepy place there.
