       Folks, how are we feeling about ꙮ (multiocular O, a defunct Cyrillic letter) being made into a symbol of "gross" paraphilias? E.g. scat, watersports, emeto, whatever the names of the rot and decay paras are.The logic is that it looks like maggots or eggs, and it's an abandoned and unwanted letter.If you have a better idea, feel free to suggest it.

       @comrade_lecter Personally, I don't like it.1. It looks to me like the chamber of a revolver, which could too easily be used by antis to make inhumane memes.2. I don't like the idea of universally gross paraphilias in general. Those who aren't attracted to certain things find it gross, those who are find it hot. For some, even the concept of sex in general is gross. The idea that some paraphilias are abnormal and gross have been used for ages to justify stigmatization and discrimination.

       @sirius I have several of those paraphilias, and I am fine with using "gross" as a descriptor, because 1) it's not a statement of moral judgement, 2) in some cases, disgust is part of the appeal. Rot and rot-like diseases are extremely attractive, yet on some level repulsive, and I am drawn to them because I need to be one with the repulsive.Also, all paraphilias and queer attractions are abnormal. We need to destigmatize the abnormality, not assimilate into the norm.

       @comrade_lecter @sirius Because I know people with a pee related fetish and for them it's not about being dirty or disgusting at all and the focus of the appeal is on other things than the pee itself. Also, I personally don't think it is as unsanitary as other things, but I find other things pretty disgusting, which are just normal for other people.

       @rubricappula @sirius again, this isn't moral judgement or evaluation of the person themself. '"Gross paraphilias' is a shorthand for "paraphilias towards things that are gross", not "paraphilias that are worse than other paraphilias". Both me and the person who inspired making this poll have several of these paraphilias. We're not scared or ashamed, and we don't feel inferior to anyone.
