@BrodieOnLinux I'm definitely someone who will benefit from this, as someone using an nvidia gpu.In the future I can imagine people alternating which drivers they using depending on the game. Projects like supergfxctl could be helpful in such a use case. Already today most game launchers have a lot of tweaks you can do on a per game basis.

@mmu_man @BrodieOnLinux this is really good news for new users and nvidia owners, but nvidia have been, for a myriad of reasons, a total sh1thead, specially relative to Linux. I'll add: too little, to late! If some one gives me a nvidia card I'll sell it and buy two AMD cards 😂

@BrodieOnLinux Sadly my GTX 1060 won't benefit from this. Hopefully nouveau gets better which makes the 1060 more usable. I will still use proprietary drivers then. The problem I have with nouveau drivers is that it does not support 2 monitors with my GPU. No way I am going to buy a new GPU.

@BrodieOnLinux as a long time Nvidia user, awesome to see significant movement here. There's still a lot of stuff we need to work on before the Nvidia experience is quite A+ for desktop users.... Especially as we move to Wayland by default everywhere.

@BrodieOnLinux @fuchsiii OFC not - and not because they don't want to [tho I'd also nope ransomware groups' demands] but also because #nvidia can't legally do that in many cases, as they too are #licensees of #patents and are bound to #NDA's. So #GPLv3 and #AGPLv3 are impossible to comply with and even #GPLv2 would be hard to.Kinda like the shitshow #BusyBox did (gojng GPLv3 and sueing the crap out of license violators), so @landley left that project and started #toybox from the ground up.
