Remember this map. In it Poland has been *the* worst polluter of Europe, at 867 grams of CO2eq for 2022.Poland is planning to build many nuclear units the next decade. I did a short calculation and if they build the three AP1000 & APR1400 units, their average kWh emissions sharply drops towards 465 grams.Germany has seen a rising annual average over the last few years and was at 486 grams for 2022 and since closed their last three NPPs.Six units to bust the myth of the Energiewende forever

For those interested: I use the numbers from https://app.electricitymaps.com/map which in turn sources them from reputable places like IPCC and UNECE. I also used https://www.iea.org/countries/poland and assumed the latest available numbers for electricity use.So, at 867 grams per kWh on average and 161 billion kWh, we get 139.6 megatons. Since nuclear is virtually carbon free over its lifecycle, we could put that to zero as it doesn't matter much in the end.

3x 1100 MW + 3x 1400 MW at 90% capacity factor = 26 TWh + 33 TWh59 TWh being saved compared to coal (1104 grams as per the numbers used on Electricity Map) = 65,1 megatons saved. So, we're left with a little less than 75 megatons, divided again by 161 TWh = 465 grams per kWh.Of course, I'm assuming stuff, like a static electricity use, that may not be true in the end, but I think the line of thought is pretty solid. You're welcome.

@MartinBe @collectifission thinking nuclear is co2 emission free is also just a lie. But the whole instance is glorifing wasteful energy monopolies

@grillchen @collectifission @MartinBe Nuclear is as emission free as wind or solar.

@ElTico @collectifission @MartinBe and neither of those is emission free.i think you are cherrypicking old and obsolete information to support only your side.Nuclear power reactors do not produce direct carbon dioxide emissions. Unlike fossil fuel-fired power plants, nuclear reactors do not produce air pollution or carbon dioxide while operating. However, the processes for mining and refining uranium ore and making reactor fuel all require large amounts of energy.Similar the production of solar panels and the construction of windfarms isnt emission free.To quote your sources: . A report released in 2014 by the UN's IPCC, for example, estimated a range of 3.7 to 110 grams of CO2 equivalent per kWh (https://www.ipcc.ch/report/ar5/wg3/).a more recent study from WISE funnily enough out of this range later they made 12g whenever they quoted the report https://www.oecd-nea.org/upload/docs/application/pdf/2022-05/7628_strategic_briefing_climate_change.pdfhttps://wiseinternational.org/sites/default/files/u93/climatenuclear.pdf calculates 117g per kwh over the whole life cycle.this more recent study calculates 60-180g per kwh per lifecycle (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0301421521002330)with those numbers nuclear is still a multiple of renewable energy source in co2 consumption.sure it is better than coal and gas but not the solution alone. if it can be replaced by renewable energy sources it should. and if it can replace coal and gas that makes also sense. the german energiewende only makes sense if coal and gas usage can be stopped short term. saying nuclear is "as emission free as solar and wind" energy is simply a lie.coal is as emission free as nuclear if u ignore mining, burning, transportation and getting rid of waste....

@grillchen @collectifission Is not about emissions and such. In Poland all is about people and their mentality, and corruption-money as well. Believe me you won't see anytime soon some npp's there. Because dumb people there won't allow, as same as they do not allowed wind powered energy. They demoed, protested etc., few years ago and what they have today? Nothing at all, except for higher and higher power bills to pay. This country is so. They are there also so. No, because no, and that's it.

@MartinBe @collectifission at least here it helps including the people In per ownership. If they directly safe money or even becoming power grid independent with solar it is often easier to reach people. If they have money to invest ofcourse

@grillchen @ElTico @MartinBe WISE is not a reputable source. They have a mission of getting rid of nuclear energy, so they have an incentive to lie.As for that 110 grams outlier in the IPCC report: that *is* an outlier, not supported by wider research.

@collectifission @ElTico @MartinBe how to stop fetishizing a mediocre technology. Nuclear fusion is more promising against climate change than fission

@grillchen @collectifission There people don't care about that. They think so: "windmills cause cows to produceĀ sour milk". Also the restĀ you can only imagine. No explanation arrives, no money talks, and that's it. You can forgetĀ about any changes. But they complain and complain about high bills and raises. Unfortunately, this is the nation. A mentality straight from the Middle Ages, and there's nothing you can do about it. There's no point in bothering yourself and wasting time with them there.

@grillchen @collectifission @ElTico Btw.. In the 90's they sold what they had by "el-cheapo". The rest was had remain get stolen. They haveĀ absolutely nothing, no automotive industry, no electronic one, no coal mines, no gas sources etc. They have to buy now everything from others and are crying because they are so poor. They did it to themselves. All the pitty crap they have today. Seems like an fate irony.
