       @grammargirl Oh, it sounded like you were cooking the sugar. Whew! I make an almond brittle with a chocolate topping (it's like Almond Roca) each year to give to my colleagues at work (along with icebox cookies). Getting the brittle sugar mixture up to 300 degrees hardball stage is scary. I call it making sugar lava. I can imagine if I stopped stirring that it might go off like a volcano!
