@TheGreatLlama @shrugdealer This, and it's one reason I draw the line of "left unity" or even "critical support" to exclude the intentionally, avowedly queerphobica "leftism" that would demand I get back in the closet or die/that downplays or denies my healthcare needs as bourgeois or Western or modern or whateveris not, arguably, even left, and even if it is, why would I want to participate where I'm unwanted/suspected, when there's accepting places and people who are *also* left?

@mybarkingdogs @shrugdealer I learned that lesson the hard way over women's reproductive rights. I genuinely thought that the right would never be stupid enough to go so far backward on that issue, so fighting over it was a waste of effort. In the long run, it will hurt them badly politically, but it's doing irreparable damage to people's lives right now. I was completely wrong and I admit it. What I learned is that there aren't any "fringe issues" when it comes to human rights. Every attempt to exclude a group makes our society worse and that's not what I want for the world.
