@grammargirl The quality varies a lot episode to episode. It's worth it, though, as there are some genuinely self-aware, considered, well-written, and surprisingly kind scenes and sequences. There is at least one staggeringly well-made episode per season that is essentially a heart-felt short film, too! Including a very fun one that is both a paean to vintage science fiction and an interesting character portrait. The characters actually change and evolve in a long-lasting way, which breaks genre convention. Charlotte Nicdao and Jessie Ennis get a lot of great scenes later in the show. In fact, I can't think of any character in the show that's given short shrift. Despite the weaker parts of the show, every character has clear and consistent motivations and believable internal logic. It could be a lot better. It also does a lot of things very well and it feels like the folks making it had a good time.
