@echo numpads occupy extra space between WASD and the mouse without providing much value. Also, numpads add extra load to the right hand. If I needed a desktop numpad, I'd put it on the left.On laptops, numpads are pure cancer because they make you type further off centre of the screen, screwing up ergonomics big time.

@newt @echo there were times I liked very minimal keyboards (no numpad, no arrows) because they take up less space on the desktop, and there were times I'd rather have as numpad (because need to type in numbers a lot) as arrows (because many GUIs can't be navigated otherwise) and in their standard positionsnot sure I'd like this huge keyboard though, but I definitely like the symmetry

@newt @echo HH is good enough but- the key rows are still shifted a bit — I don't use QWERTY and I don't need that- no controls in the corners — I hold those with the palms, not fingers- I need to enter a lot of decimal digits — all my passwords are numeric, and also I often type in quantities (accounting etc.)

@amiloradovsky @echo oh i did that too. I'm mostly ambidextrous, but... most good mice are shaped for the right hand and vidya keyboard layouts favour right-handed people (the whole WASD thing).

@newt @echo I explicitly avoid asymmetric mice, and I also always switch the buttons' functions in the settingsfor games — I'd rather use a dedicate controller or joystick, if I'm in the mood to play anything — keyboards are for typing, not gaming

@amiloradovsky @echo yeah, I wish controllers worked. Gamepads are good for some kinds of games and a total ass for others. There's a reason why console FPS players cannot compete with PC gamers. On top of that, many complex games require a keyboard due to many in-game features and commands that are totally impossible to map onto a joystick.Also, there are specialised keypads for gaming, but they are generally just cut down inferior keyboards.
