       With this news story making the rounds, it’s important that people keep the difference between a ceasefire and a peace deal in mind. I think it’s likely that Putin would like a ceasefire during the presidential election in Russia, but it’s not likely that he is ready to accept a peace deal at this point.        @anderspuck @thejapantimes Also, it would give him time to buy millions of shells from north korea and elsewhere, and pile them up in Rostov-on-Don for shipment to Ukraine, as well as train tens of thousands of new recruits. I mean, to me it seems to be a pretty dumb thing for Ukraine to agree to.

       @anderspuck @thejapantimes In Russia, do people follow Israel and Palestine much? Because to Israelis, there's an obvious difference between a peace agreement and various shades of temporary ceasefire.

       @anderspuck @Alon @thejapantimes I am convinced that many people in the West don’t understand the difference between a ceasefire and peace.But I wonder if Putin getting this story out via his assets is to play on the minds of Westerners or the minds of the global south, making him out to be a man of peace compared to the image of ruthless Israelis and Americans that he and his friends try to paint?

       @anderspuck @thejapantimes It matters not since the russians always break treaties. Minsk 1 and Minsk 2 anyone? Those are just the two most connected treaties.The only real solution is that the west goes all in and let Ukraine suffer a shorter time. Once russia is out and is forced to give back all the stolen Ukrainians, then justice can be doled out.Then and only then they can go back to eating themselves up.
