people who come to Jesus in the later phase of their lives like Adam & Hulk Hogan have it way easier. Their is a known easy path that people evangelize to them and convert them once they are willing. It's WAY more difficult as someone who has been practicing religion from birth, through school, through raising kids, and afterwards, after a lot of study, reading a lot of religious and scholarly works to not see the gaping holes and issues in the whole set of Christian assertions.

'Have Faith' is the hand wave that is then put forwarded.

Orders like the Jesuits actually tend to DOWNPLAY teaching and addressing the inconsistencies or flat out contradictions in scripture and then in the theology as a whole. Instead they focus on doing charitable works in the world and handwave lots of historical/theological detail that forms the foundation. Focus on helping others and you won't have time to ask questions that don't have answers you'd prefer to hear.

The Jesuits definitely KNOW the issues. They keep to a "happy path" through it to the people. I guess that's what the priestly class has always done throughout human history...

Unless you know how to read Koine Greek, that the New Testament was written in, you're relying on translators with agendas. And even at that point, the earliest extant fragments are 4th century. The earliest whole texts are 6th or 8th century. LOTS of hand copies. LOTS of transcription mistakes. LOTS of changes because of agendas. I mean early copies of some of these things are DIFFERENT than the later copies. That's tough to swallow for me at least.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koine_Greek

This whole issue I'm bringing up is why Catholics were DISCOURAGED from reading the bible independently pre-Vatican II. Yeah, I see why!!!!

@SirRichard @neanderthalsnavel I'd wager that Christians now vs Christians only 3 generations ago are VERY different, subverted to be very meek and tolerant.Personally, I became Christian after accepting that there was evil in the world, & determining there was an equal opposing forceMany folklore/spiritual tales aligns quite closely to Christianity in terms of demons and Satan worshipI also like the philosophical side. I never wanted to hear the surface level Sunday school jewed crap

@neanderthalsnavel yeah the old adage was you haven't really been a Catholic until you've lapsed. It amazes me every time I see these old people just now discovering Christianity and your first thought is what the hell were your parents doing when you were 7 years old? Were you raised by wolves or something? It's the religious equivalent of hey look at me I just discovered how to ride a tricycle. Shocking, so much to catch up on in so little time left. Yet better than nothing.
