Need some helpFirst what do you call this type of joining?Second how would you make the cuts? You can see my messup. I used a beveling chop saw. Also cut a bunch of straight cuts to hog it out, then work with a chisel.

@blackthorne May want to ask @Woodbutcher about what you are trying to do.I used a router the last time I tried to do anything like that. Built some large bookshelves for our 2nd home in the living room. I did the corners & slots on the sides for supports.

@blackthorne "cross lap" or "half lap" joint. Initially cut with saw to desired depth & width to remove the most material, clean out with chisel, which you did. 👍😁

@blackthorne if you cut a shallow that is equal to the thickness of the second part on one of the cross pieces you can hide some of the errors you may make

@Woodbutcher thanks, I'll think it over and try again another day. Sometimes it needs to sit, and my brain work it over

@Woodbutcher I know, I've seen people score then. This is my first real project, left it sit for awhile. I need to get me that type of router bit, mine all have the bearing at the top. Lots to learn
