       @georgetakei Hitler came to power because the punishing terms that ended WW1 and the hyperinflation that followed in the 1920s Weimar Republic. Hitler promised to restore German dignity and the economy while taking back land lost through the WW1 terms of surrender. The United States has no comparable history.

       @gabriel @georgetakei bigotry never goes away. it is not defeated once, to never return. it is reborn anew constantly, and buildsunfortunate but truethe question is, to retain tolerance rights and democracy, how is bigotry vented and expungedmust it always be cyclical? must the cycle always have a crisis point that threatens everything?i don't know. I wish there were a way to manage the constant rise of bigotry without it always building to a point of violence war and destruction before receding, and then building and returning and threatening everything again
