       A story about #parentalrights.I used to work at the Starbucks in the #yeg City Centre Mall.        She told me she had come out to her parents as trans, and they kicked her out. She was living rough downtown.I told her to come back the next morning.That evening, I searched for resources for her and found some phone numbers. I stopped at the bank and picked up a roll of quarters.The next morning she returned and I gave her the page with support resources and the roll of quarters.        I didn't see her for a couple of weeks but when she turned up again, she was wearing clean clothes. She managed to get connected with a social worker who found her safe, warm shelter."Parental rights" is a transphobic dog whistle and puts kids in danger.I'll never forget this young woman.
