https://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/4957.html I think @vathpela and I were the first people to ever produce boot media that would simultaneously work on BIOS and EFI-based PCs and also x86-based Macs and this would absolutely be an Old New Thing classic if Microsoft had done it first (we handed those ISOs out at Microsoft during an EFI plugfest in 2012 and they worked everywhere)

During that plugfest we discovered out install image didn't boot on one vendor's machine, started at it for a while, went away, and then came back 30 minutes later with a new CD that worked. The vendor was astonished that we could turn around an entire install image in that time, since it would normally take Microsoft a couple of weeks. Anyway, we shipped with full support for their hardware.

@mjg59 @vathpela God, I feel old; my first Linux install was Slackware from a pile of floppies. Glad you guys sorted out the whole CD image / USB image magic.

@mjg59 @vathpela I gave a demo at ACCU in 2022 where I showed how to write Hello World in GIMP. This is very similar.
