       Twitter is headed to the bottom.  The difference is that many of the passengers aren't going to see a deluge of water if they stay on board, just a deluge of Nazis, hate, and gaslighting.  It's certainly possible to survive that wreck for a long time, seal yourself off with your friends, and carry on reasonably well.  But why go through all that work when you can just... leave?

       I think people need a two-step program:1. Pick a lifeboat.2. Get into the lifeboat and get away.I'm looking for the best tools to recommend to people who specifically want to establish a presence in the Mastodon network and try things out. There's definitely a critical mass building among the people I follow and interact with.

       After finding a Fediverse instance as a lifeboat, my favorite tool is https://fedifinder.glitch.me/# to import the people you follow from Twitter.  Any other suggestions to tell people about?Before that, though, how are people finding an instance to join these days?  I'm thinking what you would tell someone with 5 minutes to think about this between meetings.
