"It's almost time for John to toss Hans out a building, so it's a good time for every one to share some of there favorite Christmas movies. Childhood favorites family traditions new movies you just watched. Tag some friends so they can join in "I can do that. Also, @crimson_owl has requested we tag him in these so he can compile them together later on.As per Crimson's post & comments, we do not seem to be limited to a single movie, so here goes - I'll try to avoid doubling up on anything I've seen someone else post already."O' Christmas Tree" - This used to be one of my favorites, if not simply my favorite. I haven't seen it in years, and had forgotten about it completely until I started trying to think of movies for this post. It's a cute little animated movie, well worth a lot in my opinion - or at least, according to my memory. Time to hunt it down and enjoy it once again..."Ernest Saves Christmas" - It's Ernest, saving Christmas. Do I really need to say more? This movie is awesome."Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas" - A wholesome collection of three different Christmas stories. My favorite was probably the one with Huey, Duey, & Luey."1941" - This one is just epic and hillarious. Somehow, it turned into my "Play this the moment I start Christmas baking, and don't turn it off until I'm done" movie. Every year, for at least a decade.Since Minds only lets me upload four pictures... The fifth poster will be in the comments."Frosty The Snowman" - Who doesn't like a talking Snowman? This is a classic.-----Now to tag some people, huh? Alright.@NSonic79@LandOfIce@roboqu4ck@korunick@marginalnonhermit

It’s a flashback episode set before the first episode. It’s become one of mine and “Teh Waifu”s personal favorites to watch over the holiday. It’s a must watch for any anime fan. well I didn't participate in the last one since really I don't really have that "christmas/winter game I always played during that time" that would well make it always a winter thing.but one thing i always watch every winter/christmas is the Jim Carry Grinch movie! I know I know it's pretty.....simplistic, just I love the humor in it and I think it is literally the best iteration of the grinch that was made. the acting is on point, the comedy is gold, and really I like how in depth it goes.I don't see that in any other version thus far and it's kind of been a tradition since it first came out lol. was tagged by @NSonic79not really sure who to tag who would really be willingly wanting to do this since holiday season, it's been a long day and most people want to relaxso how about this insteadfor those who want to do it, you can! I won't tag anyone cause I well 1. lazy 2. was spending time with my sis kids and 3. tired lol.so really lame excuses but meh. lolso if you want to do it too, have fun, I bet someone would love to see what you watch during this season :3

Favorite/traditional/recent Christmas movies you enjoyedSince we just finished our yearly viewing of this movie, it's the perfect time to mount my soapbox and proselytize for Scrooge, the 1970 musical adaptation of Dickens's A Christmas Carol starring Albert Finney, as I mentioned to frens @raina2q20 and @unblinkingeye. My family has been watching this film every year since I was a kid (my dad and I can recite most of the dialogue), and it puts me in the Christmas spirit like nothing else. While I'm not always the biggest fan of musicals, this is one of the rare few that passes the muster for me – it works its musical numbers in gracefully, and I guess it's just campy enough overall not to seem disjointed; plus, the numbers absolutely slap. I LOVE haunting Christmas music, so tunes like "Christmas Children" live rent-free in my head. But, moreover, I'm a period film junkie, so the Victorian setting IS my happy place, and the costuming is practically flawless. The use of costuming to convey periods of time in the past, and different characters, is very well-done, and while it isn't free from contemporary-ism (to wit: young Ebenezer is wearing a collared shirt that reads far more 1970 than 1823 in one flashback scene, but we forgive him because... it looks good on him and I'm a 1970s fashion simp anyway? whoops...) The whole production does have a very mild flavor of the period in which it was made, but it's really not disruptive and still gets the point across through using the correct silhouettes overall. Also, since so many of our most beloved present-day Christmas traditions and overall vibes were cemented in Victorian England, there's something about that time period that just seems more Christmassy than virtually any other era in history (save, perhaps, 1940s and 50s America). Watching a Victorian-era Christmas film is, therefore, rather like getting back to the roots. So the overall effect is, perhaps fittingly, very much that of saving me from complete Bah Humbug-ism about Christmas. ALSO IT'S GOT SIR ALEC FECKIN' GUINNESS IN IT. AS ANOTHER SHADOWY BLUE GHOST DUDE. GO WATCH IT. @crimson_owl

I have to say, the reason this works as a musical (again, with fresh-ish eyes and ears judging it now against very faint nostalgia) is that the music is ONLY used to emphasize emotional moments in the story and the dialog doesn't feel like filler between songs. The songs serve as emotional punctuation, comic relief, etc. Props, by the way, to Albert Finney for having a great touch for singing WITH the specific voice he picked for Scrooge. It was hilarious to recognize Sir Alec Guiness in this too. Had no clue of the casting connection when I saw this as a kid and you can tell he's relishing the role.

We also once did a whole economic analysis of Bob Cratchitt's family situation, based on his stated salary of 15 shillings a week, and his reaction to the price of a Christmas pudding (four pence). We did the math and everything and calculated how many Christmas puddings a year he could buy, how much each family member could get, and used that to estimate how the Cratchitts were just getting by. WE DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM. 🤣

Yes, exactly. A good musical uses songs judiciously and is performed by actors who are good at weaving them into the dialogue in a natural and believable way. Finney hit it out of the park with his delivery, and honestly so did the other actors – I especially love Tom Jenkins, the hot soup man, who's already a rather theatrical character, and so when he starts singing, it makes perfect sense. My dad has been yelling "HEY THAT'S OBI-WAN KENOBI" when Jacob Marley would come onscreen since I can remember, probably since before I'd even seen Star Wars, but it's definitely funnier now, memeing about how he uses the Force to open the locks and move the chair and stuff. 😂

Childhood favorites, family traditions, new movies you just watched. Tag some friends so they can join in."Well, by this point, Hans is super smooshed. But let's keep the good vibes going! So yea I like Nightmare Before Christmas (I know, don't start), Die Hard, and Merry Christmas Charlie Brown. So what's left? Firstly, I love me some Scrooged. It's a real solid Christmas Carol parody with a great cast. As for actual adaptations, Muppets' Christmas Carol is by far the best. Not the least helped by Michael Caine selling that role so hard, as if he is not talking to felt puppets. And lastly.....The Addams Family. It's Christmas for the first 10 seconds. It counts! So I got tagged here, but I was also tagged earlier by @evergradeartistry. Thanks to you both! Also, thanks to @crimson_owl for the original post. It's been a while since I've seen *any* movie, but I'd say Home Alone 2 and Legend of Frosty the Snowman that played on Cartoon Network as a kid.Home Alone 2's sequence of traps against the criminals is always a knee-slapper to rewatch. Some of them though probably would've killed them in real life, but that does bring the excessive cartoonish humor to it. The Legend of Frosty the Snowman is a bit unconventional, but I remember it having a wholesome ending. It also did a good job at making school administrators look like crap too lol. Not a lot of people liked it though, and I'm not sure if it would hold up for myself if I viewed it again today, but it's still a cool memory. Here's a few additional friends to join the fun: @alexttabor@animextremex@carlychannel@gasmaskbro
