People are praising the ATProtocol for allowing a users to have a whole domain name be their usernames, but ActivityPub is almost like that.By the design of ActivityPub, an actor only really needs to be identified by its ID, and that ID could be a root HTTPS URL, e.g. https://example.com, and nothing else is needed.No idea why most ActivityPub software have a heavy dependence on `as:preferredUsername`, but there can theoretically exist an ActivityPub software that doesn't need it, according to the specification.https://mastodon.social/@calebhailey/111615188101412225#ATProtocol #BlueSky #ActivityPub #Fediverse
