Anybody know how or why I would have no no cell service, but have “SOS” service??I’m all paid up. At this location, I often have “no service.” Strange.

@Johnmccabe No way to know, but it might be that you aren't in range of any tower which has been equipped by your mobile provider, nor any other mobile provider with which your provider has an agreement with. However, if you are in range of ANY tower, all towers are required to carry 911 traffic on a best-effort basis, no matter what. This concludes my speculation on the matter.

@Johnmccabe SOS service is typically via satellite, most newer cell phones have the capability.

@FullTimeSailor My wife has Verizon and has reliable service. I have AT&T and have dodgy service..I think it is what the other guys suggest, there’s an emergency connection to another provider. Thanks everyone!!

@Johnmccabe I’ve held my phone wrong and it switched. You can turn it off when you search settings.

@Johnmccabe No roaming agreement with local cell carrier, but they will let you dial 911.
