       @oconnell @indivisibleteam it's good but it's really a collective action problem. we need something like:- a public letter signed by lots of people/orgs about why social media must be decentralized- establishing their fedi presence and finding each other and getting comfortable- setting an agreed upon drop dead date for no longer using closed platforms and following through

       I've spent the last week digging through our traffic metrics for the year, and #birdsite remains a significant source of social media traffic for us. Socials are never the biggest traffic source for us, and Twitter's value is increasingly inconsistent, even setting aside the ethics of the place. It often gets beat by sites like #reddit or even #Facebook. It's clear there are opportunities for orgs to invest resources in new/alternative networks (like here!). #SocialMedia #nonprofit #journalism

       @LaNaehForaday the problem is that for some, being where everybody else is, is more essential to their mission or economic survival. if everybody moves together, this problem ceases to exist.

       @wjmaggos It's not the money.  That is how they are explaining it.  But it is not the money.  I do not even allow twitter in my internet space and Im not the only one.  And  fun fact....I have money I spend and if you are still on twitter, Ive already canceled my subscriptions with them and no longer purchase those products.
