Thank you for all the thoughtful responses to this question. I would add:1. Republicans are voted out of power because they take it too far and folks in the middle finally get sick of it. Democrats get voted out because they are too timid to wield power effectively.2. More people voted for Trump in 2020 than in 2016, and I would wager even more vote for him in 2024. People like what Trump and the GOP are selling because it’s immediate. Democrats touting slow systemic change isn’t visceral.
