GrapheneOS: Der Goldstandard? #GrapheneOS #Datensendeverhalten #Smartphone #Nachhaltigkeit #Pixel #Linuxhttps://gnulinux.ch/grapheneos-der-goldstandard

@gnulinux At least a few of the points raised here are misleading:1. It is claimed that in order to get a Pixel phone, you need to spend more than 700 euros, which is not true. The a series Pixels are much cheaper and are supported for as long as the flagships (more on this below)2. Pixels can definitely be more repairable, but so can all phones bar a few niche ones. Since you mention iFixIt, there are official parts for Pixels there that one can buy, and Google's committing to providing them for the entirety of the device's lifetime.3. You say that after 3 years, updates for Pixels end, but you are operating on very outdated info. Since the 6th generation, Pixels offer 5 years of updates, and the 8th generation bumps that up to 7 years of updates from launch. They are also full updates shipping every monthly, quarterly and yearly release on time. No skipping of releases, no months or year of delay in shipping them. Which other Android device can claim to provide 7 years of *actual* updates?4. This is a nuanced point. If you consider a device not receiving proper support which is the bare minimum "sustainable", then there might be more "sustainable" devices out there. Personally, buying one devices and knowing that I can keep it and have it be secure for 7 years since launch is what would indicate sustainability to me.5. Companies can sell Pixel devices with GrapheneOS. You note this after that point with the example of the Nitrophone, which is a Google Pixel that comes with GrapheneOS. If you don't want to do that, installing GrapheneOS is extremely easy and doesn't require any special technical knowledge.

@begsby @gnulinux I still consider it important for others reading this to be able to easily see that the article doesn't make accurate statements.
