@flexghost I've come to the conclusion that the alts (left and right) like victimhood. There is this idea that perpetrated that there is honor in extending your own victimhood. And what is most bizarre to me, is a secondary belief that their martyrdom can easily be shaken off. In the weeks after George Floyd's murder, I read some very justified criticisms of white women who were expressing their emotional exhaustion. These women, by virtue of their positions solidified by white supremacy, could take a break from coverage. The Black community could not. Wine mommies think that somehow they and their daughters are not actually going to be harmed. And this group, at least in my world, includes liberal women who have voted MAGA the last two elections. But their daughters went to a Taylor Swift concert! Making memories for their mini-me! How ever could their mini-me really be harmed by MAGA?

@flexghost And I'm being very serious about these liberal women voting for MAGAs. In my world, it is a group of four, two of whom only have daughters who are headed off to college. Until COVID, all four were typical Democrats, and at least two still express concerns about abortion rights. However, there is an appeal in the power promised in MAGA policies. They have fallen for the idea that Democrats are too woke, and their families are being shoved aside to raise up "others."The whole thing about their daughters losing rights is lost on them. They think they can carve out exceptions.

@flexghost Gen X and Millennials have no idea what life like pre-Roe. Groups of us may adamantly vote to preserve abortion rights, but it is because of our understanding of history. And when contraception and no-fault divorce go on the chopping block...There are not a lot people that understand the Nevada and Mexico divorce industry. Elizabeth Taylor went to Puerto Vallarta to marry Richard Burton. This is a scandal that is lost on today's voters.
