@CAWguy Most of my good ones were flukes. I take my camera everywhere, it's wearing out. coming back from the beach, we stumbled on a massive fire 30 minutes before fire crew arrived. Flames ran across the highway. I recorded it all. Only one with a camera. Same jetty as those fishing boats. I go along the # 7 often for drives, and scenery and coming back late, you see sunsets , and just before the next turn where we'd wait a few minutes for the best colours to come out, I saw that smooth water

@Rasta The “flukes” issue sounds familiar. My dad was a truck driver for close to 40 years, and always carried a camera with him. We only wished he’d had autofocus back then-he should have been wearing mild prescription glasses based on his developed photos.

@CAWguy Decades before digital, we had to send film for developing. Took 6 weeks for us (Ships) and we had a once in a lifetime trip through a Fjord in Norway, and there was a living glacier, melting and spilling into the Fjord. I whipped out my 35mm and put a new roll of 36 colour slides, and 6 weeks later, came back all black? First cog stripped. No film moved, 36 shots of nothing. dammit

@meso @CAWguy You may have missed two points here? 😉Maybe three. 😂This is on a Navy ship, we have no ROOMS to spare but plenty of dark roomsAnd the film did not pull into the camera due to a stripped cog. There's nothing to develop.LONG AGO😎, before Email, a big bag of handwritten letters was carried to a post office in another country, and sent to canada, then unpackaged and sent to development and returned the same way, 6 weeks was a bit fast, sometimes 8 weeks.
