The head unit of the stand mixer wiggled itself loose, and I finally addressed it this morning. You have to take the thing completely apart to tighten 3 screws that hold the head to the base. What a ridiculous design.

Shit! It just dawned on me, I should have applied some LocTite to those 3 screws.

@GettingCooked but on the other hand, at least it's *possible* to disassemble/reassemble

@GettingCookedAs much as KitchenAid touts their mixers as commercial, and implies it heavily as such, they are faaaaarrrr from it. I work with both types every week and any KitchenAid will ALWAYS break.

@Bunnyslope We've had this over 20 years, and this was the first time it required any servicing. Mind you, those screws have slowly been loosening over the last few months. Maybe we're just lucky? I think every other powered appliance we have are Cuisinart products.

@GettingCooked Don’t get me wrong, they are made better than most other retail mixers for occasional use, and they look good. If I was doing anything with a mixer and using it weekly, I’d definitely buy a commercial mixer. Yeah, they are more expensive and not as good looking, but they’ll last forever.

@Bunnyslope We're more occasional users than commercial.

@GettingCooked Yep, that’s the “marketing bullshit” I was referring to. Mine says that too. I think it’s supposed to mean “Professional H(uman) D(ilettante) occasional user”

@GettingCooked yeah. You have to un-grease the old. And then RE-grease the new. 😂

@Ariesian1 I neither knew that nor did that. Why would that be necessary?

@Ariesian1 I just a KitchenAid guide that said the grease should be good for 20 - 30 years.

@GettingCooked sorry. Yeah. It probably wouldn’t. But I figured since you had it open you might have wanted to. It just a project I did recently. It was fun. But used a ton of paper towels. 😂
