When Alice first encounters the White Rabbit, where is he going? What is he late for?

@markquestion @MaleticResearch He's carrying a fan for 'the dutchess' (the red queen) but I can't recall if that's all of it.

@DaemonFools @MaleticResearch yes I think there was a red fan. The Duchess and the Red Queen are two different characters. But the Queen is at the very important date as well.

@DaemonFools @MaleticResearch oh interesting about the original version, I didn't know that. I apologize I didn't read the footnotes at first. That's a nice copy btw. Ok, regardless, where do they all end up at the end together, Alice included?

@markquestion @MaleticResearch In one version the trial, in the other a chess match.

@DaemonFools @MaleticResearch I'm only familiar with the I865 first edition, which has the trial. Alice's own trial. She's on trial for her life, and when she first sees the White Rabbit, he's already on his way there. From an occult perspective, this could be seen as Revelation of the Method. The moment we are aware that the rabbit hole exists, we are on trail for our life and are obligated to act.

@Mummabear that's a 60s interpretation. Carroll wasn't talking about drugs.

@Mummabear at the end of the novel Alice is on trial for her life. This is where the rabbit was headed from the first moment Alice saw him. Revelation of the Method? Are we being shown that the moment we are aware of the rabbit hole, we are responsible for that knowledge?
