       I spent the day on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. On the surface, all was very pleasant.  But dystopian tendrils were everywhere.  Most notably, no cash. All forms of digital payment from Venmo to debit were fine, but no cash. Multiple ATM machines stood like relics to the past.  About a third of the employees wore masks, and smugness hung in the air like a mist.

       @SirAnthony Made a trip to the Central Coast a couple of years ago at the height of the madness. We were staying in Monterey but did a little trip up to Santa Cruz, the first thing we saw after getting off the freeway was a homeless dude crawling down the sidewalk.
