Wait, I got blocked for teasing a Norwegian about his fellow countrymen eating horses? I genuinely thought that was one we could laugh about together.

@chanon sometimes people have a bad day and something lands wrong, I wouldn't take it personally.

@chanon 2016...Shymkent... I walked through a park and then went through another park after walking along a main road. This one had kiddie rides, not operational. It also had some places at which to eat. So I picked one, where I had a beer and a national Kazak dish, beshbarmak. It’s horsemeat, onions, and long noodles (twice the size of lasagna noodles). It was filling. I took two-thirds of the bread with me. There was a side bowl of broth and a side bowl of sour cream. I left quite full.

@jessecoynelsonSounds like a hell of a meal. I will admit to trying horse salami when I was in Norway, but it was hard to muster. I've had many friends who were horses. I'd eat it again if I had to, but I think I'd rather not.

@carolen @chanon It was only a few years ago that Princess Anne was advocating for eating horse meat in the UK….

@chanon I can totally understand that. Here in Korea, we have dog soup. To the best of my knowledge (you never know what you might get slipped), I've never had it, nor would want to try it.And how funny was it in my much younger days, when I saw dolfin on the menu... and didn't know it wasn't dolphin...(or is that the other way around?)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azEOeTX1LqM

@carolen @chanon Oh, there was a huge fuss. She did have a point, though; it was that winter with those floods in the Somerset Levels when so many horses were starving for lack of fodder, and she was making the point that too many worthless horses are being bred. (I say this as a horsey person myself.)

@jessecoynelsonIf it weren't for prions, I'd totally eat chilled monkey brains! I love trying weird food. I just steer clear of anything that might make me more retarded than I already am.
