It's wild looking at all sites you can pay to flood the internet with grey-goo AI-authored articles for SEOI just hit upon Findable, which says you can "use our no-code product suite to deploy a tonne of pages as quickly as possible": https://www.findable.au/Deploy a *ton* of pages! Here's their blog post detailing some of terms they recommend autogenerating stories on: https://www.findable.au/blog/head-terms-for-pseoNone of this is new, but always fascinating to see how *straightforward* they are

@clive AI content is the new content spinning, and there’s a 99% chance Google can detect it and will burn it down in the future.

@jon @clive I'm not that optimistic. Why would google burn it down when they can profit from it? I think AI generated content is one of the biggest threats of today's internet, and it will be harder and harder to find good, human made content in the ocean of goo.

@clive @jon On way that I see to fight back is to go back from search engines to other, simple means of finding new webpages, such as rings and human-curated aggregators. As in the old days.

@dxzdb @clive @duckduckgo There are a few problems:1. As people start using chatbots to search instead of using Google, Duck Duck Go, etc., sites will get less traffic, which will make some sitesGo under because of lost ad revenue.2. A flood of AI content optimize for search engine placement could push lots of good, real content out of the top results on sites like Google and DDG. This again means good sites will lose traffic/revenue, and that search results will be less reliable.

@dxzdb @clive @duckduckgo 3. If the web is filled will too many incorrect AI-generated articles, it's possible AI tools will start training on this publicly available, bad data, which will lead it to put out more and more bad results, which will cause a downward spiral in accuracy and quality. {I believe the people who make these tool are aware of that problem and trying to come up with solutions.)
