Do you ever mute someone without unfollowing them?Seems kind of passive-aggressive to me.

' @seanongley "amerika" muted me when I ridiculed him about his "Irish run America and should go back to North Africa" spiel. I don't get ," what the benefit is of a "mute," as opposed to just blocking someone.Others can still see you replies, right?

@jessecoynelson Yeah I think I've been annoying people because I'm not a right winger and I argue with all forms of obvious bias. At least that's my theory. But I haven't lost followers. I get why you'd mute someone but not someone you keep following. Blocking says to me that you don't want a person in your life at all.

@seanongley When it comes to "right winger"... it's interesting. I was born in '74. So I grew up in the 80's. I've always been consistent on and intent on the issues. It's mostly two."no censorship"[be it religion censoring or PC culture censoring]"no U.S. fucking about in other countries"[no neo-con, or neo-libs, or "Agenda for a new America]That's mostly my thing. I'd be considered left in the late 80's-90's... and right in the post-9/11 era.

@jessecoynelson I still believe the left at its core believes in those values.I never truly conflated the left with the Democratic Party, although of course I voted that way. Today I vote for whoever looks like a better person. I voted for the Republican candidate for mayor in Philly this year, and Democrats in other roles. After getting to know more conservatives, I realized that its the same for the Republican Party. Essentially a liberal party, but goes full hog on weird shit like war.

@jessecoynelson The Democratic Party has really become Neocon while coopting social justice takes.I don't know though. The anti-establishment left and right seem to have more in common now than any time in my life, and it might grow into a consensus that really changes the parties long term.Could even be another crossover to where the Democrats become the conservatives and the Republicans become the liberals. It's happened before, right?

@seanongley Interesting... they always talk about that Democrat-to-Republican or vice versa whatever Archie Bunker crossover. But it's like these core issues... for example, anti-military industrial complex stuff...I totally grew up lower middle class in Pennsylvania. I was "having a paper route" generation. So I'm still not much into broader welfare money re-distribution.But if you just cut a quarter of the U.S. military spending... most would be covered.

@jessecoynelson Oh God. I mean, if you cut out all the corruption, all the corporate manipulation, and restored good diplomatic and economic relations worldwide, the whole world could live with good standards of living, varying but good. Our realm for whatever reason doesn't have intrinsic goodness, so this shit will never be utopian. My argument is this. Communities are responsible for themselves and federal programs should be deeply restrained. And honest diplomacy would save us trillions.

@jessecoynelson Let me be totally clear. It seems to me a federal income tax is unconstitutional, but property taxes are required. Therefore, it was always designed for municipalities and states to take care of themselves and lean on federal programs to bring us all together into one nation while our communities were ultimately responsible for themselves.I believe that we could restore such a nation but it's going to be tooth and nail with these sociopathic war mongering globalists.

@seanongley "It seems to me a federal income tax is unconstitutional, but property taxes are required."This is where we might differ somewhat... or I'll tell you of the difference of Korea and the U.S.I never knew how much, until NAS (someone here told me about it)... property tax in the U.S. is the primary funding for public schools. If I were someone who doesn't have kids (and I don't)... why should I fund the public schools? The more kids you have, the more public school tax you pay.

@seanongley It's irrelevant here in Korea, where I live, because the government pays for schools. I own property... I pay about $60 a year on the four-room place that I own. That includes city trash pickup.Korea doesn't have "other country interference" in its resume.

@seanongley I'd say property taxes are exchanged for the services of the national entity where one lives, and should be calibrated to the level of those services that you are using. And voluntarily donating to charities of one's choosing should always be encouraged as a noble thing to do.

@jessecoynelson I am a voluntarist at heart, but if you dismantled the government as we know it and communities devised a new system, I think we would end up naturally with taxation and regulations that keep civilization moving on an even, agreed upon pace and direction. So I don't mind paying for schools to educate people to become workers and citizens. We need that. It is mutual infrastructure like roads, health, and education that keeps civilization strong.

@seanongley Traveling to a lot of different countries... 118 now to date... I see different systems. I think it's best to be competitive with systems various countries employ. If I decide not to have children... sorry, I don't want to pay for that, unless I was paid to teach. Otherwise, with no say and no stake in it, because I have no say... nah.Leave me alone and let me ala carte pay for what I use.

@seanongley "It is mutual infrastructure like roads, health, and education that keeps civilization strong."And that's none of the U.S., when you look at an honest assessment of income tax and even property tax.... nice idea, but income tax in the U.S. goes to fund the war machine and foreign country welfare (Israel, Ukraine, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan)... and property tax goes to fund a non-critical thinking school system.

@seanongley And of course the U.S.' "obamacare" is just a health tax with not really good anything compared to a lot of countries.

@seanongley You made me check South Korea's income tax. I still haven't found the rate. Cheers to you too... I like enjoyable exchanges that make me check things... 🍻
