The Venn diagram of people who praise fascists and who say "very based" is so close to a circle.

@comrade_lecter I'm trying to stop saying it it just became habit 😖/nm But do I ever speak about anything facist-y without realizing it? I want to be called out without grudges either side ^^

@cottonnsheepp well, you know what I think about using love as a synonym for good behavior, but that's more of a general trad thing that fascist.

@comrade_lecter Oh I see! Yeah I do see love as a verb not an attraction/emotion. (It's a lot easier for me to say I choose love than relying on my fading/spiking interest or attraction in my partners I want to remain committed to for example.) I don't really see this budging for me tbh so I hope it's just a personal semantic difference and I can still contribute positively to you. Could you explain what you mean by trad(traditional) please? Like the current norms of society Today?

@comrade_lecter I stopped saying based, not because it was a word made by fascists (I do hate fascists but didn't see this as an immediate condemnation of the word as I understood its meaning) but because I kept seeing cringe being posed as an antonym.

@cottonnsheepp @FesterNFang the entire chad vs soyjak meme line, "billions must die" and all derivatives.

@cottonnsheepp love as a value, in the sense of "experiencing positive and uplighting emotions about someone or something is a sign of being a better person", is tied to conservative ethics.

@comrade_lecter @FesterNFang Oh thank you. I didn't consider the history behind "billions must".I'm just waiting for soyjak to die off already honestly. I'm surprised people aren't tired of it, especially with the ableist implications of so many of them (even non explicitly fascist ones use mentally disabled people as the "wrong side").

@comrade_lecter //rambleI don't agree with that definition, but I would agree that that definition being tied to conservative ethics. Emotions don't make anyone lesser or more of a better person. People with muted emotional affect can still be very good people as we all can. I'm a huge advocate for rehabilative justice and forgiveness regardless of emotional spectrum or neurodivergence. When I say I choose love it's acting as if I am always in that state even if my emotional status asks of me otherwise. I experience a lot of mood swings, along with emotional impermanence, and sometimes I don't know what love is or if I'm "feeling" it. My type of love is different. When I say I value love, I mean compassion, patience, kindness, forgiveness, harmony, etc. between and towards others. I just wrap all of that in "love" because it's the easiest to understand (without using a thesaurus /lh).I don't see how I, personally, would be considered to be of conservative ethic with this because traditional views on love is to restrict its definition to one-on-one bonds, typically with a large degree or authority within a nuclear family (wife, child). Conservatives lack love towards immigrants, minorities, etc. Even progressives lack love towards paraphiles, ex-nazis, felons, maps, a variety of people. Of course I am coming from a southern American background however. I mean it in the religious hippie way lol.

@comrade_lecter I kinda just like the word cuz it reminds me of the old days and I like to be dumb and say "based on what?"
