Many kids in the US (including mine) are required to carry chromebooks to and from school and every class, which do not have the ability install software or share most educational materials they receive (even with their parents). This is a dystopia. We need learning in freedom, and software freedom is the base requirement. Donate to FSF https://donate.fsf.org #learnlibre #EndDRM

@iank yeah, the degree in which these Chromebooks are locked down is not only really frustrating (e.g. we ran into numerous roadblocks when he needed to scan in papers showing his work for math), but I feel it also discourages kids from learning more about how the technology actually works.

@iank given how chaotic and underfunded our public schools are, if kids are required to use some laptop like device, then I would imagine an unlocked device would be a disaster ?like 9th grader installs pOrn software ?or whatever ?
